One Month in Review. A Declaration of Independence From Niche.

So. It’s been a month since I started this blog. I launched The Boozy Housewife on October 5th, 2018. I started with the intention of sharing a few things, and it has turned into so much more.

When I started this project, I wanted to give you a cocktail every day. Maybe a recipe here and there, or an idea on how to create something in your home that you didn’t think you had the space or the money for. I wanted to show you a few easy projects you could finish in a day that made you look like you knew what you were doing when you totally didn’t, or plan a party for your friends that had all the feel of an expensive, well planned out event, but was affordable and requires minimal organization/effort because let’s face it, who has time for that crap?

I still want to (and fully intend to) give you these things. But I want to give you more than that as well. I want to give you…well…me. I don’t create a new cocktail every day, and there are days that I don’t cook a damn thing and tell my husband it’s a pizza kind of night. I only host maybe three gatherings a year (not including drunken craziness in the backyard, because in summer months, that is kind of a weekly thing).

This blog has opened me up to a whole new community of people (yes, I mean YOU), and you are shaping not only my blog, but my life every day as I read your stories, and laugh at your jokes, and cry at your frustrations and explore new places with you. Since I started writing in here, I met another blogger who’s life, and personal trials led her to write a collection of poetry that I purchased and wrote about. It was the first book I had read in over a year. Now I want to read more. I have been an avid reader in the past, but lately not so much. This project has renewed that passion in me not only because of that book I picked up, but because I spend a great deal of my life reading other blogs, and interacting with other writers.

I was also inspired to write about my own personal story a bit, with a post about my biggest mistake in life. It was a deeply personal post, but I decided to use this blog to tell my story with the hopes that it may help someone else. The response to this post was incredible, and I am humbled and grateful for all the positive feedback I received.

When I started this blog, I didn’t even know if anyone would read it, it was more a passion project I wanted to do as a creative outlet for myself. Turns out people are listening though and I wrote a contribution post for another website just a couple days ago on precautionary practices for the prospective tattoo client, and am currently answering questions for an interview for a site in Japan as I write this. Both opportunities came my way from readers of this blog. I will post links as soon as they are available. These things just amaze me! I may not be making money from these things, but it’s great to share what I know! I am always up for that!

I wouldn’t be doing these things if you all didn’t read and love my blog. That means so much to me.

From this point on, I refuse to continue to try and put this project into a neat little box with a ribbon on it. I want to write about all the things. All the things that make up me. All the things that you all are inspiring in me.

Stats as of October 3rd (1)

I want to work up to collaborating with other bloggers, and maybe even some businesses, money isn’t the main motivation, (although, who can’t live with a little more of that in their life), but I would really love to introduce people to things or experiences I find to be lifechanging or otherwise awesomesauce, because I want to share wonderful things with you.

I just want to add here that Grammarly didn’t try to correct ‘awesomesauce’ and I think that’s the bee’s knees.

For a great first month

I hope you all continue to read this and interact with me. Take this ride with me. It’s going to be fun. And yes. There will be cocktails!

I want to hear from you! What’s your favorite post so far? What do you want to see more of? Is there anything you would care to see less of? Let me know!

  1. I love this! You’ve done so well from just starting a month ago! I found that with blogging it’s so much fun to just blog about what you love, it doesn’t matter if it doesn’t fit the theme of the blog, it’s a creative outlet like you said and you can write whatever you feel like writing. The blogging community is amazing and I’ve loved connecting with so many people, and it’s so lovely being apart of blogger groups & chats ❤ Love your blog and keep up the great work 🙂

    1. Thank you so much! It has been quite a learning experience, and still learning more every day. I love the challenge of coming up with new content, and the liberation when I push myself to write about something I usually keep to myself. Thank you so much for your support and for reading! Much love!

  2. This was the first article I read of yours but it definitely made me want to read more. I don’t really drink so I will probably just glance at those for fun but would love to read about DIY projects or what’s going on in your life. You are doing great things! Keep it up.
