Hey everyone! I’m Mrs. Pillar. I welcome you to my new blog!
I am married to my best friend, and we live in Kansas City, MO. I am a stay-at-home wife who loves to cook, knit, decorate, and figure out crazy little ways to make our home beautiful, on a budget, but above all, I LOVE a great cocktail.
I have always had this weird fantasy of being the quintessential cocktail fueled fifties housewife. This cocktail is infused with that spirit. So without further ado, I give you, our first cocktail of the day! I call this one Wine with Everything.
“There is something urbane, stylish, and worldly about owning a cocktail shaker.” -Roger Stone
You will need 1 ounce vodka, 1 1/2 ounces Pinot Grigio, one orange slice (with rind attached), and a teaspoon of blackberry jam (you can substitute blackberry preserves, or just muddle fresh blackberries in the bottom of your shaker before you begin).
Fill your Shaker with ice and squeeze an orange slice into it and set your slice to the side you will need it again. Now add your vodka and your wine and your tsp of jam close up your Shaker and Shake vigorously. Now strain that into your wine glass and top with soda water. pull the meat out of the orange rind and use it to garnish your drink. I like to run it around the edge of my glass so that I get that nice orange zest flavor when I take a sip. Enjoy!
